Welcome Dubya!

Thanks for visiting Brainwavers. If you're new here and you like what you see, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. I hope you enjoy the site

It seems like only yesterday that I stood in front of a massive crowd and exclaimed, “Ashlee and Cameron, you have earned the new puppy that’s coming home with us on Christmas!”  Or maybe I’m thinking of someone else; I’m not sure. Anyway we have a new set of paws running around the Sanders home. He’s a 7 week old Golden/Lab mix. Sorry, I meant hybrid not mix. He may gain some political leverage to one day claim one breed over the other anyway. When I started this post I swore to keep politics out of it. Ok, not really. Anyway back to Dubya. My wife and I both being fans of George W (although he lost major points with me with this bailout), and me being a fan of Paul W, I just couldn’t think of a better name. Actually I tried Paul W, but my wife refused to call a dog Paul. So Dubya it is.

Merry Christmas Mike Huckabee

Posted by: Eric Sanders | Comments (1)

Mike Huckabee recently ran a television spot wishing Americans a Merry Christmas and out comes the very small but very loud group of anti-American, anti-Christmas, anti-everything whiners. “He shouldn’t use his political position to push his religion on us”, “It’s a political trick”, so on and so on. I’ll bet that if it were Hillary Clintonstein wishing a happy hanukkah, or Obama bin Laden wishing all of his fellow American-haters a Jolly Jihad, we wouldn’t hear a sound, not even a mouse. It’s Christmas, you know like when Christ was born, and I personally think it’s ok to run a Christmas ad wishing a Merry Christmas during Christmas. But that’s just me. Anyway, Merry Christmas Mike Huckabee and all else who celebrate the birth of the Savior of the world.

Operation Christmas Child

Posted by: Eric Sanders | Comments (1)

Operation Christmas Child is a program that sends shoeboxes filled with gifts to children all over the world who might not otherwise receive anything. This program is through Samaritan’s Purse, a Franklin Graham organization. These people visit countries all over the world to deliver these gift boxes and to share God’s love. Each of my kids put together a box, and they loved it. They included a personal letter to the kid who receives their box with the hope that the child will have the resources to write back. They are excited about making a new friend in a part of the world that they may never be able to visit. We watched a video about Operation Christmas Child that taught us how fortunate we are to live in America. There were stories  and video from poor countries all over the world. One that really stuck with me was a man who searched for used shoes every day so that he could resell them to feed his family. I wake up every day and have to decide what I want to eat out of a well stocked refrigerator. This man’s only goal every day is to find enough food to carry his family for one more day. I encourage every person who reads this to check out the Samaritan’s Purse site and join in Operation Christmas Child. They have a “suggested gifts” list on the site. Also, be sure to check out the “do not include” list as well.
